Oprah has always been my favorite talk show host (hostess). Her shows have changed with the times, are always informative and interesting, and somehow remains fresh in it's content and guest list. I use to tune in to several others but time seemed to take away thier creativity. You could almost guess what the topic was going to be and what type of guests they were going to have on the show. I applaude her for her great sense of what the public wants to watch. I admire her as a person as well as a host, simply because she remained true to charater all these years. I really don't have the time to watch as much tv as I'd like but I do belong to her website and can catch shows I miss. She has the most giving heart of any personality on tv these days. I would like to be half the example to women as she has been. She is REAL, there's nothing Fake about her. She's Honest and warm, and sincere, and she cares about ALL types of people. I would one day like to meet this incredible lady but that will never be, but that doesn't mean I'll ever stop admiring the person she has become.

A SPECIAL GUEST

I have seen her shows with John Travolta and I feel as though he is the man next door. Tonight I caught the end of her BIG GIVE and there he was giving his fair share to her cause. He was piloting his plane to some of her guest. Once again he seemed to be the man next door. What a truely amazing thing it is to see people bigger than life willing to take time out for us common folk.

I got to thinking about what values he seems to live by and it reminded me of something I heard in my youth (and not to start any trouble out there with all the men who will disagree) I was told that a man or a woman is only as good or bad as the mate they choose. The young lady said when she wanted to kiss him on the cheek will Kelly mind? to which he replied 'Oh no I cleared it with her" and he smiled that great smile. That proved to me that saying is true. Thier marriage seems to be a strong one and I just have to say that if more couples treated each other with that kind of respect there would be no need for divorce. My hats off to Oprah for all the great things she does, Kudos to John T and all the wonderful people bigger than life that bless the lives of others , and My best wishes to the lady who allows the world to share the man in her life, and who sets a good example to other women out there who think jealousy is love...nothing can be farther from the truth.

Who do you admire and why? I'd like to know, and no they don't have to be bigger than life...just someone who has made a difference in the life of another.

BELIEVE IN DREAMS

I have met so many nice people in my life, and I never forget those who treat me special. I had the pleasure of meeting a really nice young man that had so many people in his life that you would never think that this small town girl would ever have anything nice to say about him. People assumed that he was stuck on himself and would never give you the time of day...but I am here to say that nothing could be farther from the truth. I see him now and he seems so unreachable, but in my mind I feel as if he is that same young man I met many years ago. He had so many young ladies following him, that he did not need me, but I found that he was so down to earth. I met him first at the "Good Times" lounge next to Kenova...when a friend invited me to come and hear him sing. She had the biggest crush on him,along with the hundred other young girls I knew back then, and so I agreed to go with her so I could meet him. I was so surprised when he just walked over to our table and sat down and began to talk. I knew then that this guy would one day go far in his career, because he had such a passion for music, and he could surely please a crowd. Every weekend found us going to wherever he would be playing. He would always come to us and talk just like he was one of us. I will never forget the first time he sang "Some Gave All ". The crowd went crazy. Then of course he became most famous for his song "ACHY BREAKY HEART". If he was in WVA... we were there. If he was in Kentucky...we were there. I had a collection of autographs and pictures and I was proud that he was moving up to stardom. I knew that the day would come when I would be a nobody in his life, but I knew that he would always be someone special in mine. The memory that made me realize that he was just a good ole boy came when he appeared at the "RED ROOF INN" and for the first time in my life I felt special, because he wished me a "Happy Birthday" and I carried that photo to remind me that I wasn't a pretty girl like all those others, but that he took the time to treat me nice. I felt a renewed confidence that I was ok just as I was. One day it was left behind along with all my autographs, when I became a mother and moved away from West Virginia. I will forever remember us talking about his dreams and him telling me to follow mine although everybody thought I was crazy to want to sit around and write all day. He said " if I can sing all day why can't you follow your dream and just write." That day I believed in dreams and I've never stopped writing. He is living proof that in order to live a dream you have to be willing to BELIEVE IN DREAMS.

The world finally sees that you are more than just a simple boy from the country, you're a Man with many talents.

What page would be complete without talking about the people I admire that are larger than life. Growing up in West Virginia I learned about some pretty amazing people, and I never forgot them. They left an impression on my life, and I tend now to look at celebrities in a whole new light.

MS. DOLLY PARTON

My youngest memory was of watching Porter Wagoner and Dolly Partin on the grand ole opry. I thought she was my next door neighbor, I was too young to know that she was miles away from my world. As I grew I realized that she would never be unreachable in my mind, because if she ever came to where I could go to see her I would. I got that opportunity when I was in my late teens. I always went to our neighborhood theme park and it was my world away from home. I would one day have wonderful memories of this hometown place. It was incredible that this little theme park called "CAMDEN PARK" was able to bring in all the big stars, and I was fortunate enough to meet so many. I met Ms. Dolly before her first show of the day. I had arrived early and was just hanging around, when her bus came in I watched in anticipation. Little did I know that she would turn out to be wonderful. She invited me onto her bus, and she was for a brief moment in time my next door neighbor. She had such a great personality, and to this teen-age girl she had opened up a new world to me. I sang her songs in the talent shows at school (JOLENE being my favorite), and I sang her gospel songs in church (Daddy Was an Old-Time Preacherman- because it reminded me of my daddy.) I will never forget that one time I met a legend. I just saw her new video and she is as beautiful, and full of life, and down-home as she was when I was just a young girl. MS. DOLLY, you will never see this but the world knows now that I have an admiration for you that goes beyond words...Fantastic new video.
