CELEBS
CELEBS
What page would be complete without talking about the people I admire that are larger than life. Growing up in West Virginia I learned about some pretty amazing people, and I never forgot them. They left an impression on my life, and I tend now to look at celebrities in a whole new light.
MS. DOLLY PARTON
My youngest memory was of watching Porter Wagoner and Dolly Parton on the grand ole opry. I thought she was my next door neighbor, I was too young to know that she was miles away from my world. As I grew I realized that she would never be unreachable in my mind, because if she ever came to where I could go to see her I would. I got that opportunity when I was in my late teens. I always went to our neighborhood theme park and it was my world away from home. I would one day have wonderful memories of this hometown place. It was incredible that this little theme park called "CAMDEN PARK" was able to bring in all the big stars.
I was fortunate enough to meet so many. I met Ms. Dolly before her first show of the day. I had arrived early and was just hanging around, when her bus came in I watched in anticipation. Little did I know that she would turn out to be wonderful. She invited me onto her bus, and she was for a brief moment in time my next door neighbor. She had such a great personality, and to this teen-age girl she had opened up a new world to me. I sang her songs in the talent shows at school (JOLENE being my favorite), and I sang her gospel songs in church (Daddy Was an Old-Time Preacherman, because it reminded me of my daddy.) I will never forget that one time I met a legend. I just saw her new video and she is as beautiful, and full of life, and down-home as she was when I was just a young girl. MS. DOLLY, you will never see this but the world knows now that I have an admiration for you that goes beyond words. P.S. I love your new video...Fantastic. (Barbie).
