The "F" Word

The "F" Word

Now that I have your attention  I will tell you first off that YES  I hate the "F"  word you probably thought about when you looked at this blog.  But other than  "I think we could live without this disgusting word "  it would  merit no other discussion for me.

No,  I'm speaking of another word thrown around carelessly.

When I was 5 years old  I went to school with a boy we'll call J.  He just lived down the road from me and my Mama liked him.  He was always nice to my Mama.  She would let him stop by my house for milk and cookies.   We would climb up on the couch with one of those trays and watch cartoons.  You only had  three channels back then (3,8,13).   J  and I  were together all the time.  Before too long (although we didn't know what LOVE was )we were sure we were going to be together  FOREVER.  YEP  that's my word for this blog.  FOREVER !    Well  J  didn't know what being in love would entail.  But he soon found out.  I insisted  that he eat the MUD PIES I made in those cute potpie tin pans (Now we have Microwaveable ones).  We'd go to the dirt pile and I'd start baking.  Poor J would eat those dirty things and tell me what a good cook I was....it's a thousand wonders it hadn't killed him...but he's proof positive that a little dirt don't kill nobody.LOL  When we learned how to write  we took crayons and wrote J and P FOREVER  on the brick wall behind my house.  He and I remained friends all through high school.  We often laughed about our young days growing up,  he never forgot my mudpies.

When I became a teen-ager  I fell in LOVE with a classmate .  He and I  went everywhere together.  We sat side by side in all of our classes,  we went to all the ballgames together, and he spent  all of his time with me.  We  wrote FOREVER on our notebooks.  We went all through High school and never shared one kiss,  but in our minds we loved each other at one time,  but as we grew he started seeing another girl and it was as if FOREVER had never been placed on those school book pages and little notes to one another,  and the bindings of our notebooks.

Many more FOREVERS transpired in my life from a child to an adult.  When I was 34  I was sure I had found true love.  I married a man I thought I would be with FOREVER.  We had a beautiful little girl,  and at four years old  our worlds fell apart.  Another woman promised HIM FOREVER....she lied.  But it was too late to save us.

My teen-age daughter makes friends easily.   She will often speak of friends who are dating.  I see the little notes on her notebook that says  so -and -so  LOVE FOREVER.  That got me to thinking.  We were talking about how young these kids are (And as shocked as I was that these teens are having sex,  I was more shocked that these young girls think thier relationship is going to last FOREVER.  )  One day she came home and said she wasn't friends with this guy because he cheated on a friend of hers.  I just had to add my 2cents worth and say  she'd better get use to it...she's so young.  Then she read me something off her space that talked about a girl who killed herself over a boy and I thought how sad....a life destroyed because someone promised FOREVER. People will even KILL for LOVE  because they want it to last FOREVER.

Who would think that one word  could bring so much HAPPINESS and so much PAIN.  Lives are changed FOREVER  by a simple little  "F" word...that seldom offers what it promises.

ARE YOU HOLDING ON?

ARE YOU HOLDING ON?

I have those kinds of days all the time.  But you know what I have discovered.

I have GLUE. YEP,  you heard me I have GLUE.  Don't you know that frogs (some of them anyway) have a substance on thier feet that will suction cup them anywhere.  One day when my little girl was younger I went out to my car to take her to school and there was a frog on my windshield.  I thought I would scare it away so I wouldn't hurt it.  Didn't work.  So I got something to shoooo it with.  Didn't work.  Finally I said I'll just pick him up.  Easier said than  done.  That little frog had some kind of stuff on his feet that held him to my windshield.  Well that day I learned a little about determination...NOT MINE I mind you...BUT his.  I forgot all about this until today,  when I was looking for graphics for my webpage and saw this frog hanging onto a pipe.  Today God made me think for a minute and then he said write.

My thought today would be GLUE.

If we were more like frogs we would know how to hang on.  So I got to thinking about it and I think I know how to HANG ON.  You see,  we as Christians have our own kind of glue that we can use to hang on.  If we think about  "FAITH" as our GLUE for everyday life we will better understand just how to hang on.  If something comes your way to try to knock you off your pipe use your suction cup of faith.  It will be the only thing you need to help you hold on.  Think of "FAITH" as that sticky substance on your feet that holds you firm just where you are.  SO hold on when things come at you and believe in faith that tomorrow holds a brighter day.

Sometimes I'm Surprised

Sometimes I'm Surprised

I went to the store today,  and I usually see a whole lot of things that makes me upset. One of those  is how people drive.  But I told myself last week that I am going to start noticing GOOD things about PEOPLE and post it on my webpage.

Well I observed a young man in his late 30's probably. He had his mother with him,  and he was walking around the store right beside her.  She had problems seeing, and he was reading things to her and telling her about things.  He was in there as long as I was,  and checked out just ahead of me.  He was so loving and kind to his mother.  It made me sad because I was always with my mother and we loved to go shopping together,  and we could spend all day together.  A tear kinda filled my eyes as I was reminded of her.  A still small voice (GOD)  said, " tell that man that you are proud that he treats his Mama with such kindness." I stood there and I heard the voice again.  As they went out the door I still had not said anything and I felt a WHACK up against my head.  It was GOD saying..."I said tell that man you're proud of how he treats his mother".  I could hardly wait to get out that door and tell him just that.  So I thought " He'll think I'm crazy." But I knew it was something GOD was wanting me to do.  I made my purchase and went out.  He was ever so gently helping her into the car.  He was not YELLING for her to hurry up ( like one man I had seen ) and he was smiling as if he was so proud to still have her.  You could tell she was in her late 80's,  because I would have thought her to have been his grandmother,  had he not called her mom and she said," I have a good son " to some other woman in the store.  I waited until she was in,  and just before he shut her door,  and I said,  " Sir,  I'm so proud of you,  and how you treat your mother."  He laughed and you could tell that he was shocked that I had noticed.  She said "He's good to his Mama."  I said
"You can tell."  Have a good day now"  and I left to get in my car.  You could tell that those words meant something to him and I was glad I listened to that still small voice...even if he did have to WHACK me once to get my attention.  My telling him what God said to say...blessed me somehow.  I can't explain it,  it just felt good,  and it reminded me of my Mama.

I'VE GOT SOMETHING TO CROW ABOUT

I'VE GOT SOMETHING TO CROW ABOUT

Working on my webpages brings me much joy.  I love the fact that I can maybe brighten someone's day,  or share a moment in time with them to let them know that trials are gonna come our way...BUT GOD is GONNA MAKE A WAY.  I have been through a lot of changes in my life...some good,  some bad...but All...a part of God's plan for my life. I have turned all my life's heartaches, disappointments, and tears,  into a book about how GOD TURNED my TEARS into LAUGHTER,  my SORROW into JOY,  and my BATTLES into VICTORIES. I have entitled this book:

INCREDIBLE BLESSINGS in an INSIGNIFICANT LIFE,

  THE AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF A NOBODY

It will be available online.  I will post ALL the details when I have them.  I sure hope that you will tell all your friends about it .  If you enjoy my webpages then you can find more of the same things in my book.  It is NOT about how MANY BOOKS I can sell,  It's all about how many life's I can change.  If One person can be uplifted by ONE page in my book...then I will have succeeded in honoring the man who inspired it...GOD.  That is all that matters to me.

SATAN I MEAN BUSINESS

SATAN I MEAN BUSINESS

You know I heard a preacher one time say how he imagines Satan as a bug beneath his feet and how when the devil comes around trying to cause trouble he just closes his eyes and pictures squashing him like a bug.

Well,  Being from WVa,  when we wanted to get a point across to someone we did it the old fashioned way.  So I thought since a picture is worth a thousand words I might send SATAN a picture of how I feel today.  If he bothers me today he'll find himself in big trouble...because I've pulled out the big guns....PRAYER.

SWINE FLU

SWINE FLU

What is the headline for today?  Swine Flu.  Everybody is talking about it,  no one is able to do anything about it.  So does it really surprise us about any bad news we hear today.  There are so many things we have to fear in this world,  but the end of our lives isn't one of them.  I for one just wake up everyday wondering just what new thing I will hear about today.  I have a child and I worry about her,  as she goes about her everyday routine.  The only thing I can do is pray.

Now as far as the swine flu goes I have researched it as much as I can on the internet.  So I have taken all the precautions  listed.  I went out and bought hand sanitizer for the whole family to carry with them.  I have told them all to Wash thier hands constantly.  This is the advice I have for you today from the chalkboard (my little post it note to all my readers ).  Have a safe and disease free day my friends.  Catch you later,

love the Ladybug
